I am new to researching Irish ancestry; looking for a bit of guidance. Ancestor is Michael Larkin, born approximately 1833. Anecdotal history says he was from County Galway. He married in USA, his death record indicated father's name is Joseph Larkin and mother is Bridget Houney(?). A quick look at Irish Family History site gives no index of a person with those specific names, but a possible Michael Larkin, baptised 1833. Is Larkin a common Galway name? Any hints as how to proceed from here? Buying credits is a possibility, but without more details, I find one spends a lot of money very quickly. Thank you for any guidance.
