My ggg grandparents were Charles TWEEDY (b. c1778) and a Miss Byron
of New Ross, Wexford County. They had 2 children - John TWEEDY (b. c1803), my gg
grandfather, and Suszanna TWEEDY, before Miss BYRON died about 1810.
Charles then married Margaret CLEGG (c1814) and they went on to have
8 more children before emigrating to Canada in 1832, settling in Leeds
County in Upper Canada (Ontario). The TWEEDYs had lived in a house
that was called "Houseland" near New Ross, and they supposedly had a
family crest that had 2 sheaves of wheat with a sword across. Many
of the children stayed in Leeds/Lanark area of Ontario. I would be
interested to hear from anyone who has information about these folks.
