Seeking information on my g.g.grandfather Patrick James Owens.

Born apparently on the Isle of Wight on January 6 (or 2) 1843, admitted to the RHMS on Nov 18 1851. His father and two uncles were soldiers, his father enlisted in the 97th Regiment of Foot. Patrick enlisted in the 60th Regiment of Foot, 3rd Battalion (also called Royal American or Kings Royal Rifle Corps) on 28 July 1857 at 14 years old. Shipped to Madras in December that year. Transferred at some point to his father's regiment. Failing eyesight terminated career in c1867. He married Mary Murphy, 19, in Tralee Ireland in 1874 and they emigrated to New Zealand the following year.

I would be very grateful for any further information on him or any of the associated institutions. According to family legend the family comes from Tipperary?

He's become a serious brick wall!!
