You can also check the marriage and baptism records for the names of sponsors and witnesses. Also check passenger lists for names of contacts in America, naturalization records for names of witnesses, and census and city directories for names of close neighbors. Since Irish families often immigrated to locations where family or neighbors had gone before, many of these people may be siblings, cousins or neighbors from the same parish in Ireland. You can then check Griffiths' and the church records to find locations in Ireland where those same name patterns are evident.
