Maureen...Sorry for the long delay on this reply to your post re the O'Connors and related families from Castlegregory, esp Cloghanseskeen area of Kerry.
Very frustrating for both of us, as we share several of the same surnames from that area: O'Connor, Maunsell, and Spillane, in particular. And, the fact that Cloghanseskeen figures in both your and my family tree, makes me think there has to be a blood connection there...somewhere. But where is it?
I have Maurice O'Connor (born abt 1790?) marrying Ellen Maunsell. Their daughter, Johanna O'Connor, born abt 1820, married Thomas Curran(e), born abt 1815. They married on 8 Nov 1835 in St Mary's, Castlegregory. Their oldest child, Mary Curran, was born at Cloghanseskeen in April 1843 and baptized at St Mary's. She married James Harris of Derrymore, Tralee West, in Jan 1864 at St Mary's.
A daughter of James Harris and Mary Curran, Margaret, born Mar 1871, married a Michael Spillane of Glenahilt, near Clogher and Brandon Point. There are descendants of theirs living today in GarryWilliam, Castlegregory.
I sure wish we could tie up some of these loose ends on the O'Connor and related families from Cloghanseskeen, Kerry.
