Hi Teresa,
I would really love to have the photos from you, I wonder if the one at the Annunciation was taken at the same time as one I have somewhere showing four lines of girls on raised toes with arms stretched out.
You asked about my dad in Tralee, My dad Charles was born in 1899 the third son of James Francis Oatt and Hannah Butler.Four more children were born but by 1912 Hannah and three of the children had died. Then in 1916 Robert was killed on the Somme. Names linked with the family were Stack,Griffin,Brosnan,O'Connor and Butler. They lived at Ballmullen just a short distance south of Tralee.
Some years ago, when I was 23 I went to Ireland and toured around with an Irish friend. We went to Tralee but
did not stay long (at that time I had not been bitten with the family history bug) so did not even go to Ballymullen.
A few years ago I went again to Ireland with my husband
but we did not get to the west. Instead we did see a lot of the area where my mother was born( Ballymore Eustace Kildare . When I went to to Mass in Hollywood I saw a beautiful stained glass window dedicated to the priest who had married my grandparents Thomas Geoghegan and Ellen Corcoran in 1880. So that was great.
I have written to Irene so thanks for her address.
My e-mail address is :
farthings.chapman@btinternet,com
With many thanks.
best wishes,Kathleen
