Apologies for the delay in replying. There is no mix up in the families. I had realised that there were discrepancies in the census. In 1901 Mary would have been 32 (born October1868). Regarding Cherry - in the census of 1911 she is recorded as being 43 years married and not 14 as you wrote. The 43 years would be correct. She did have three daughters - I have purchased copies of the birth certs. so was not relying on hearsay. Why only one daughter was entered on the census return is a riddle.
John was described on the birth certs. as variously a grazier, farmer, cattle dealer - take your pick!
Cherry lived to the ripe old age of 91. What happened to John is still a mystery yet to be unravelled. Thanks again for the information you sent.
