A Release of Roman Catholic families preparing to emigrate from the counties of Carlow and Wexford in the insuing Spring — dated (New) Ross, 29th November 1817
George Moody 4[4people]+[f farmer]
These lists of Protestant and Roman Catholic emigrants from counties Carlow and Wexford intending to emigrate to British America (via Quebec) list only the head-of-household, with the numbers of persons within each family group. The lists were compiled at the end of November 1817 and indicated the intention of those entered, to sail in the Spring of 1818 . . . as of that date. Some may have decided against emigration and others may have decided to be included. The condition of the filmed lists make some names difficult to decipher (eg. folds in paper) but every endeavour has been made to accurately record the names.

"Gentleman's Seats
Castle Lecky, the country residence of Averil Lecky Esquire".
note by Louise Lewis; I played there as a child with a boy called David Drenan. The house is now demolised. Almost opposite where this house was are the ruins of a farm house. This is propably GORTMORE HOUSE. Averell Lecky Esq who died in 1834 lived there. A Henry Lecky was to be left a legacy of 1000 by mr g grandfather in his draft will of 1882 but not in his later will. possibly a relative???.
