I only got as far back as Dolly Dourigan (b co Longford 1808) who was sent from Dublin to Hobart Australia in 1843 as a convict. She was married to Patrick Douragan and had 6 children, but could only take the youngest with her. She put in several appeals to have her remaining children sent to her but they came to nothing. Dolly and my gggg-grandfather (John Byrne) married in Hobart in 1846 and had a child, Andrew in 1848, together. Both children were in and out of an orphanage. I've never been able to find death records for either Dolly or Andrew. John moved to Sydney when Andrew would have been about 4 yo. He remarried in 1854 and had two children from whom I am a decendant.

Going back to Dolly, I tried to find something on her from local Parish records but had no luck. Not being a direct decendent I didn't worry too much about it.
