Surnames: HALPIN, DU BOIS, CROSTHWAITE
NICHOLAS HALPIN and his wife ANNE DU BOIS had a school in Portarlington in the mid 1700s.
It may have been carried on by his son, William Henry HALPIN and his wife, Marianne CROSTHWAITE.
William Henry HALPIN was the father of the Rev Nicholas John HALPIN, editor of the Dublin Evening Mail, and of Dr Charles HALPIN of Cavan.
Any information on any of these people or of the school in Portarlington would be very welcome.
