I am looking for a connection to some Scanlon girls whom immigrated during the Great Famine from Ireland to Western Australia in the 1850's.

We think there were three sisters (or possibly cousins)Catherine b c1832, Johanna b c1844 [parents John Scanlon & Johanna Moore], and Mary Scanlon, b c1836. They were said to join their cousins, another Mary Scanlon b 1838 [parents Pat Scanlon & Annie Fitzgerald]and Mary Dooley b c1826 [daughter of Edward Dooley].

It was said these girls came on board 'Irish Bride Ships', Clara', 'Escort' and 'Palestine'. These girls all married not long after arriving in Western Australia.

We have several different references under debate as to where they originated, being Killusty, Co Clare; Glen Castle, Co Limerick and Co Cork.

It was said these girls were known to the Bridges family in Australia, whom they knew previously from Ireland. The Dooleys were said to come from the same area as the O'Sheas and the Sheas.

If you think you may have a connection, we would love to hear from you.

Kerryn
