My great grandfather was Robert Kingsmill of County Monaghan who married Martha Nixon of County Cavan. A friend, Mike Cahill, did the geneology from Robert down to my nuclear family, but could find nothing of Robert's ancestory. I know that Robert was naturalized in New Orleans and was listed as having been on the "minors' roll." I have not been able to determine his port of entry and today learned, through this site, the name of the ship on which I, without empirical evidence, believe he and Martha emigrated to the U.S.
I am not even close to being a geneoligist, but my family legends suggest that Robert was one of three brothers who came to the U.S. and that one went to California while Robert came to N.O. There was a hint, the source of which I can't remember, which suggests that Robert's entry may hav been through New York.
