born in Clones, Ireland, in 1836 and came to America at age 13 years. His parents first came to Ontario where William lived until he was a grown man. Maragret Bell was born in Minto, Ontario, Canada on 16 Oct 1850. William and Maragret were married 03 July 1867. They came to North Dakota in 1882 and spent a few months near Grafton, Walsh county, ND before homesteading about a mile and one-half south of Milton, ND.
The Thompsons were the parents of six children, most of whom were born in Canada. They are as follows:
Mrs C. A. Wright of Rumley, Alberta, Canada
Mrs J. E. Watson of Monitor, Washington
Mrs A. F. Elliot of Milton, ND
Mrs Bert Waterman of Expanse, Ontario, Canada
James H Thompson of Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada
a daughter (name unknown) died in infancy. These people are all deceased.
Mr Thompson was a member of the masonic order, and the Orangemen's Lodge.
They are both buried in the Milton Odd Fellows Cemetery. Mr Thompson died in 1915 and Mrs Thompson died in 1935.
