There was a William Eagle but his father was John. They lived in New York. William came to Monaghan and married here in 1853. He was a merchant, and married a merchant's daughter but she was Mary Jane Horner!
Maybe look at the New York Eagles (sounds like a football team!!)....find the connection to Monaghan from there.
