Was there a chaplain / chapel at the barracks? I am tying to find out about ancestor born in Birr but can find no record. See my query to Offaly Historical & Archaeological Society (info@offalyhistory.com):
"John Henry LE COUNT born 1865, Birr (shown aged 6 in 1871 census in England), parents John Henry and Jane. I would like to obtain the original birth cert. and the parish entry. It is probable that the birth was protestant / Church of Ireland, and that the father was stationed at Crinkill Barracks"
The history society could find nothing on their database, so I am wondering if army births were recorded in some other manner (and if they were I hope they survived).
Thanks
