My Gannon family is from Garrymona, Walsh Island, Geashill. The only records I have are the following. Thank you.
I located one 1869 baptismal record which states “ 25 March B. Patrick, illegitimate, of George Whittell, Projeant v Catherine Gannon sponsors John Gannon and Sarah Nolan, Goramona.” This is from the village Clonbulloge, parish Clonsast, near Edenderry. My great grandfather Patrick Gannon was born 17 March 1869.
I have the Clonbulloge, Clonsast 31 Oct 1875 marriage of Michael Baker, Ballintemple, (Father Andrew Baker Edenderry) to Catherine Gannon, Gorrimona, (Father James Gannon Girrimona). These are the people who raised Patrick. The witnesses were Thomas Gannon, Gorrimona and Catherine Mealy, Ballykean. The closest spelling to Garamona and Gorrimona is Garrymona which is part of Walsh Island.
Catherine Baker (Gannon) died in Baillieston on 26 May 1916 at the age of 65. (This means her birth would have been around 1851.) Thomas Gannon (crofter) and Catherine Gannon MS Keenan were her parents. Mary Clark her daughter was present and she probably supplied the names of Catherine’s parents. Patrick's sister Mary is also Catherine's illegitimate child born in Philipstown 10 Aug 1872. Mary's
her first marriage has her parents as Thomas White and Catherine Gannon and her second marriage to Clarke has her parents as James White and Catherine Gannon.
