Sandra,

I've been following this list for several years hoping to learn something about the EGAN family/families of Kings County. I can get no farther than Dennis EGAN b.1788, married to Catherine MALONY, who came to Mississippi to join
their son John EGAN ca 1850. There was a daughter, Mary EGAN. All I know is that the family came from Kings Co.

I would like to know who you have in your EGAN records - and if you know of a town / parish for the family.

Thanks,
Anne
Without more specifics, I can't make a connection at this point. I do not belong to Ancestry.com. There is a Family History Center in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, but they are expensive. I used them to find both my Dooley Family and Troy Family in Offaly. If you have any questions, ask me. Where in the U.S. did your family end up?

Pat

Don't know if this is a link, or even if you are still on-line (reply to your posted 2005 Ancestry message) My grandmother's family (Annie Pilkington) were in West Meath from the late 1600's. Some names: Richard, Henry, Joesph, Capt. Abraham John, etc. Marriage links - North, Mulock, Kelly. If any of this appears to link to your Pilkington Croasdale search, drop me a line.

Regards,
Jim Blower
Canada
jimblower@shaw.ca

Hi Shirley,

I have been pondering through the Kelly side of the family its very difficult researching ireland let alone a surname like Kelly!!

There seems to be 2 Rose's in this Kelly family just to make it even more difficult! On the 1911 census Peter is living with Rosane and John Flanagan and their daughter Mary Anne who is 8. I don't know for definate if they are related or if they are the relatives of someone who married into the family as there is a huge age gap.

A look up on the 1901 census did have a sister Rose Ann living with Peter but parents are Lizzie and James from what I remember. I have no idea who she married, sorry!

What have you gone into so far? do you know what parish the Homans were in and if their parish records survive? My family was in Northern King's Co. (Clara town, Kilbride parish) and nothing pre-1864 survives, their church records burned in the 1922 fire in Dublin. You would have to check into that before really going into research. Do you have them in Griffith's Valuation? (1850s)

I will have to ask my Aunt if she remembers where my greatgrandfather was from. My Grandmother Elizabeth Dooley married John Loonam in Banagher, and remain there until the death of her Father, Michael in 1925 Then she came to the United States. They lived in, Bronx , New York. Until the 60's when she moved with my parents to New Jersy where she lived out her life. Elizabth and John Loonam had 11 children. Unfortunalty when we are young we are not interested in asking our relatives all these question. Then when we interested we need help from sites like ancestry, etc.

As I said I am new to this. I have domne more work on the Loonam side because to be honest Loonam is not very common and easier to trace. Dooley is a lot tougher. I will try and get more information. Stay in touch

Thanks for the reply
Kathleen

Hi Pat.

I am pretty new at this, so I don't have all my dates. Any help I can get tracing the Dooley family would be great. I can trace to my great great grandfather Dooley. I am not sure if back then they were in Offaly but I do believe they were in Kings Co. His name was James Dooley and he married Catherine Costigan I have no dates for them. James Dooley had a son Michael Dooley died 1925, I don't know if there were any siblings. Michael Dooley Married Elizabeth Digan died 1892.
Michael and Elizabeth Dooley had 8 children:
Mary,Jack,James,Sarah Ellen, Bridget Kate Joanna, and Elizabeth. Elizabeth was my grandmother who did live in Banagher,Offaly . I have pictures and information on that generation and more moving forward.

I can be reached thru ancestry.com My tree is Loonam/Dooley.Or my email address. Please add dooley to the subject line so I don't think it is spam. I hope to hear we have a connection.

All the best to all those Dooleys out there!!
Regards
Kathleen Scully

A James Daly, son of Michael Daly & Elizabeth McGuire, was baptized on ? September 1821 in the RC Parish of Tullamore, Co Offaly. There is a ? for the date for I could not read the entry on the microfilm. A John Daly & Biddy Grady were the sponsors. There is no record of their marriage or any other children's baptisms but there are more records missing than exist during that timeframe as seen by the dates of the surviving baptismal records below:
June 14 1809 - Feb 20 1810
Nov 1 1820 - Feb 24 1822
Feb 1 1827 - Jan 31 1836
Mar 1 1836 - Dec 26 1880
Hope this information helps as it at least pinpoints the location within Co Offaly (Kings)
John McGuire
I'm doing research on some of my Low/ Lowe family who were in the immediate area. One of them Samuel, owned an estate at Clonerrill, spelled many ways and it is now Clonearl, and may have owned Cleyduffe (Clyduff, Cilconfert) as well.

I've found information you may find helpful.

First, the deeds indexes always refer to Clonerill as in Barony Philipstown, parish Kill (some symbol) Killaderry, and usually a sister deed for Cleyduffe between the same people is in the next line, and it is never referred to as there even though it is really in Kilconfert, which suggests that atleast at times, Kill was another name for Killaderry.

Second, while the civil parish is Killaderry, the COI (and also Catholic) parish is called Daingean.

Third, the Offaly Archaelogical and Historical Society receptionist who also does family history reports there, told me, in additon to the second, that the Daingean Church of Ireland records no longer exist.

You can raech them at 057-9321421. They also have an e-mail address, but I've had zero luck with anyone ever answering e-mails that are sent there, and I think that some of the staff are not too tech savvy. She gave me this e-mail address to reach someone who gave a talk a couple of years ago on the history of the Clonearl estate; pilkington.4gnd.edu . I couldn't convince her that something in that address is wrong. The director left her a better e-mail address for that person, and she correctly read off the symbol to me - in Gaelic, it took some effort for me to understand, and she couldn't understand that that was what is missing in the the first e-mail address.

No. I'm putting that kind of effort into my Lowe genealogy, but I want general Homan genealogical information for background. Someone must have it; if they're that obscure, and they were as wealthy and as prominent as they were, than they must be even more closely related to my Lowes than they look! Most of that circle of families, extensive genealogical info has been published; just can't find any for the Homan family.

I'm specifically interested in ones who lived around Moate, Clara and Athlone.

Yours,
Dora Smith
