Thank you for your message. I had a wonderful time during my five days in Ireland. I didn't find any new info about my G2 grandfather, Michael Gallagher, because I only know that he was born in 1818 in Co. Roscommon, but I don't know the name of the parish or townland. Michael migrated to America during the potato famine and settled in Minnesota. His death certificate says that his father's name was Neil Gallagher. I went to the Roscommon County Library in the town of Roscommon. One of the librarians told me that the name of Neil Gallagher sounded like a common name from Donegal. I don't know where Neil Gallagher was born.
Were you husband's Gallagher ancestors always in Co. Mayo or did they move there from snother county? What about the Leonards?
All the best,
Mary Yonan
