my great, great grandfather James Feeney immigrated to the USA in late 1830 with 5 brothers. They were supposedly from Co. Sligo (where in the county). They immigrated on the orders of the British because they were caught harassing the British soldiers, their fahter was hung, his land confiscateda dn given to the British, they (the sons) had 24 hours to be sailing to USA or they'd be sent to the penal colony in Australia. Now this is all an oral then written family history. Am having a difficult time untangling threads of truth from fiction-I know my relative was in Lockport, NY area tehn in 1852 moved and settled in the Waukegan, IL area. Any help would be immensely helpful!
