DEar Fellow Sligo Ancestor Researchers,
I hate to see people pay for what they can do in a few hour for free.
BELOW ARE FREE (Mostly) RESEARCH SOURCES
Do it yourself FREE - Here's How:
Need to star with three pieces:
1. ANCESTORS SURNAME(S) as you will have maternal and paternal at minimum, usually more
2. WHERE THEY LIVED COUNTY?,
3. WHAT TOWNLAND?
These are THE critical information one must have from memory, your Relatives, whereever, mainly THE TOWNLAND (best records are local in the Church they lived near or attended).
Then after months of free research only pay Ancesty.com "World" subscription forr ONE month ($24 I think) per year - Note the day before the month is up and Cancel, get a confirmation otheriwse they WILL charge for another Month.
So you have then have 6 weeks (including 2 free weeks if first time subscriber) to do in-depth research on the paid databases.
AGAIN, make sure to note date ONE DAY BEFORE the end of the Month and cancel your paid "World" (Which has UK/Ireland) subscription or they will bill another Month!
THIS WAY ONE MINIMIZES COSTS TO BE USED FOR ORDERING CERTS (BIRTH, MARRIAGE) TO GET THE MISSING INFORMATION, **ONLY** AFTER YOU ARE VERY SURE THE PERSON IS A RELATIVE -- YOU CAN FIND ANYTHING THE "PROS" CAN FIND this way and do so as cheaply as possible.
Only pay if you do not have time as it is simple, or you come to Brick Walls, which you will eventually (and even then pre-1800 records are few and far between). Good Luck !!
