Decendants of several families from the Thurles district will meet on April 9 at St Mary's Hall in Geelong in the state of Victoria, Australia.
Rody (Rodger) Ryan, born 1803 is believed to have been the son of Edmond Ryan and Catherine Duggan of Moycarkey.
He married, in 1828, Mary Fitzpatrick daughter of John Fitzpatrick and Mary Purcell of Ballycahill and they lived in Templetouhy Parish on Killoran where they had 10 children.
The eldest son, Michael arrived in Melbourne in 1851 and there married Mary Kennedy from Templederry in 1862. They had 19 children and it is their decendants who will meet in Geelong.
