My ggrandfather, Edward Lacey, was born in Carrigatoher, Nenagh in 1826. His parents were John Lacey and Judith(nee Farrell). His sister was Mary the mother of Archbishop Quigley. She married James Quigley and emigtated to Canada in 1847. My ggrandfather emigrated to the USA in 1848. I have been to Ireland a few times and many Quigleys are still there in and around Nenagh. The old Lacey house still stands on the " Old Road" next to the old Quigley farm. The Laceys' were tenant farmers under a Capt Finch and bought the farm in 1906 under the land Acquisition Act. The present owner is John Grace. John Lacey lost a leg in a mining accident and was given a job as a tollgate tender on the Dublin Rd.
