Members of the REEDY family from Templederry migrated to Australia in the 1850s. As far as I know, Judith with her husband Jeremiah QUIRK and their family were the first to migrate. Then in 1851 my great grandfather, Patrick REEDY, his wife Catherine (HOGAN) and their four children (Thomas, Eliza, Mary and Margaret) left Ireland. By the time they arrived in Australia in February 1852 there was another daughter Johanna. On their migration documents Patrick stated that he was from Latteragh and that the children had been born at Gurteenavalagh, Co Tipperary. I have not been able to locate this place. Patick's parents Thomas and Mary were still in Templederry while Roger Hogan (Catherine's father) in Fantane was a widower his wife, Catherine, having died. The Reedy family settled in Camden N.S.W. where Patrick and Thomas worked on the Macarthur Estate, Camden Park. My great-uncle Thomas eventually became a head gardener at the Estate and was involved in the development of the orchid and exotic plant collections there. My grandfather was Roger Reedy, the youngest child in the family. I am keen to trace the family both in Ireland and Australia.
