Hi Dave,
Sorry I haven't replied sooner but had a busy week.
Many thanks for all your valuable research, which has thrown up some interesting leads.
The help I was really looking for was the parenta of Timothy Collins and Ellen Heffernan, and Mary Galvin, and as far as they are concerned you have thrown up some very interesting lines to follow.
As for my grandfather, Timothy, son of Timothy and Mary Galvin, I have his original birth certificate, so I was aware of where he was born.
I also have the Irish Census return for the Collins family in 1901 in Killaloe and the 1911 return for the family in Barton.
Looks like I'll be digging into the IFHF website.
Once again many thanks for all your hard work, it is much appreciated.
For your information, my great uncles, twins John and Patrick Collins, both fought in WW1; Patrick I think survived, but John was killed in France, fighting with the Lancashire Fusiliers.
It's funny but when I first started to look into my Collins Irish roots I thought they would all come from Clare, not Tipperary and Offaly!
