I know this is a shot in the dark, but I'm hoping somebody else knows something about this gentleman.
My William Henry Grayham/Graham was born in 1784. Sometime prior to 1824 he immigrated to Canada. In 1824 his son James Sweet Graham was born in Canada.
Family folklore says he is the old Irish soldier who deserted his family that Catherine Parr Trail or Susanna Moodie wrote about. I'm sorry, I'm having a brain blip this morning and can't remember which one of these Upper Canada authors wrote which book.
Another bit of family folklore (from an entirely different source) says he did abandon his family and took up with a native woman, with whom he had over 20 children!
He's an enigma, our William. I sure hope someone sees these old stories and recognizes their Irish ancestor.
