The Good Shepherd order ran both the orphanage St Martins and the Magdalene Laundry on College Street/Hennessys Road in Waterford. They have since given up both functions ( the buildings now form part of the W.I.T. campus) but a centre and houses for the last survivors of the Laundry is in Virginia Crescent Hennesseys Road Waterford.
Im sure they could give you info re any records etc. Children born in the mother and baby homes were registered in the normal way, however a girl from Waterford would be sent to Blackrock Cork to have her baby and vice versa, I worked with a girl who had a baby in 1980 in the home in Blackrock,Cork so it did not close til mid 80's at least
