I am directly related to a farmer who came over to Canada from Waterford, Ireland. No other information other than next of kin, and that his wife Bridget Carroll was from Tipperary. He was born between 1801-1804. We know he was married in 1831 in Ottawa at the Notre Dame Catherdral, so I am almost positive he was on board one of the "Peter Robinson Settlers" from Cork to Canada ships.
There are no Kenney's or Kenny's listed but there are 3 Kinney's. I know Thomas could not read or write according to the census. I was able to trace his decendants in Canada after being granted land etc, but have not found other than the clue on his death record that he was born in "Waterford".
It looks like a Bridget Kenney signed as a witness at his wedding so it may have been his sister. Other then that I've got a cold trail....
I've searched some of the early Waterford census material and no luck.
I've also been told that he may have possibly had 3 brothers or relatives that were catholic priests. Oh yes he was a roman catholic.
