I am looking for any information (or descendents) of the
Thompsons of Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. The farthest
back I can get is:

Thomas Thompson (b. abt. 1790)
married Anne Judge

Christopher Thompson (b. Jan. 3, 1832)
married Mary Nolan

Mary Thompson (b. 1862)
married William Robert Woods (b. Nov. 25, 1853)
(came to the U.S., I believe, to Chicago, IL.)

Emma Woods (b. Jan 1, 1895)
married Thomas F. Powers (b. Feb 28, 1893)

I was told my Thompsons were Catholic and have read that
this means they were probably displaced Scottish Thompsons (MacTavishes). I don't know where they came from as they just pop up in Ireland starting with Thomas Thompson - this, of course, doesn't mean they don't go back further in Ireland it's just that I don't have any records, and can't find any.

If anyone has any information about the Thompsons of Mullingar, County Westmeath, please get in touch.

Thanks,

- Scott Grant
