Dear Jack McBride,

Thank you for your email.Thank you for your email . I bought an Irish equivalent of the Ordnance Survey map of Westmeath, and was glad to find Montrath is definitely in Westmeath. It's funny because the family history centre in Dublin, said there was no place in Westmeath with that name!
My father used to go there a lot as a child and teenager. My ggrandfather's family had a farm in Montrath.I know my Greatgrandmother was a Hogan from County Offaly which is just over the county border.Montrath could easily have been in Offaly! Hopefully Dublin will update their records!
