If you are still looking for your ancestors, I have a suggestion. Our Johnston/es in Poldean group has done extensive Y-DNA testing. We have found that many Johnsons were Johnston/es who went to Ireland in the 1600s. George is not a commonly used name with Johns(t)on/e families; however, it is used in the Poldean family. Other uncommon given names with Johns(t)on/e families that are used by the Poldean families are Francis and Christopher. I would urge you to have a Y-DNA test done. This may go a long way to helping you. Most of us have used Family Tree DNA in Houston, Texas.

Some of us Poldean descendants have hired a professional genealogist in Scotland who is attempting to fill out the line.

Good hunting,

Cliff. Johnston
Pearland, Texas
