Classification: Query
Looking for information about Thomas Gowie Baird, born 1837 Montrose, parents John Baird and Esther Ford, spouse Margaret Brown Robertson. Thomas and Margaret married in London and had three children Esther, and twins Florence Maggie Baird and Thomas George Baird. Young Thomas died in early childhood not long before his mother died in childbirth along with her unborn child. Thomas senior was a Master Mariner and was part of the Baird family many of whom were seamen and ship masters. Esther Ford Baird was boarded with relatives in Edinburgh and then went into service, Florence went to stay with relatives of her mother and became a photographer's assistant. There are various maritime certificates for Thomas Gowie Baird, the last of which was issued in Singapore. Looking for Census records for Thomas for 1781 and 1791, also trying to establish if he remarried and went to live in North or South Shields. Trying to establish when and where he died. There is a Thomas Baird, Master Mariner recorded as dying aged 40 In Copenhagen around 1890, home address South Shields, but he appears to be too young. Can anyone help, please. Researching this family for a friend, who is not online. Thomas Gowie Baird was her 2xgreat grandfather, and Florence Maggie Baird was her great grandmother.
