There is a Caroline WHITE who died Paisley in 1884 her age was 38 years. That would fit OK with your Caroline born about 1844. Did not download it as there were NO other Caroline WHITES to be found. Then tried to find the Death of William WHITE born about 1842. There are TWO possibilities of all the 25 William WHITEs who died between 1881 and 1955. William WHITE aged 53 died Paisley 1896 and the other William WHITE was aged 61, he died 1904 Paisley.
I suspect when Caroline died in 1884, the family was split up. Younger ones maybe put in an orphanage, or ALL of them put there. Older boys could have found work and maybe lived with the dad. There was a daughter Margaret born born 8 July, 1881 who might have been the 'twin' sister he came with if this was indeed a girl that was remembered. There was an infant [aged 0-1] who died 1878. In 1882, there were 2 deaths for Robert WHITEs, both under the age of 2, so they are doubtful. Checked each single year of deaths from 1881 thru 1900 and found no other candidates even being lenient with ages, we know he was born 1878. I'm thinking its more likely the twin, Robert died 1878 and if Alexander came to the US possibly with Margaret, she could have been presented as his twin ? Still seems she could have been presented as his sister, not his twin. However....if HE said he was born 1885, that would make HER born 1885 and that would have knocked 4 years off her real age. I'm seeing more possibility for the AGE angle if she was wrongly said to be his TWIN.
Am wondering about a census for William WHITE and maybe some older sons in the 1891 Census ? That family tree posted said Archibald and John were oldest. Jeanie was born 1868 and Agnes in 1872. Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma USA
