Classification: Query
Surnames: McConnochie/McConchy
I am trying to find information on my 3x great grandfather John McConnochie ( or many other variations of it).
In the 1851 census taken in Old Luce, Wigtownshire it states he was born in Maybole, Ayrshire about 1767. On Scotlandspeople I found a John McConchy born there in 1768. The birth information is listed as follows:
John McConchy procreate _______________(this word looks like belnixt) John McConchy in High Helton (or Hilton/Halton etc) and Agnes Gervain, Spou. He was born the 5th and baptized the 10th Octr 1768 in the church by the ordinary minister.

Does any one know what that blank word would be and what is the meaning of it. It is written for every person listed on that page. Also does anyone know what the correct name of the place "High _______" might be. My guess was Helton.
