Hi

I've researched Thomas Strachan and Susannah Alexander and they had a number of children baptised in Irvine, then went to Gorbals, Glasgow where their younger children were baptised. Their sons returned to Ayrshire and were coal miners, mainly in Dreghorn, Riccarton and Shewalton. No connection to Newton-on Ayr I'm afraid. And no sons named James or Alexander, though they did have a John who was my ancestor.
