Can anyone please tell me what records to check for landowners?
Hugh Millar, unmarried brother of my gt gt grandmother is on the 1881 census as farming Lochfaulds farm, Beith.
In a report on Principal Families and Properties of Beith 1820, this farm is listed under Stewart, William (heirs of). I'm trying to find out if a Stewart daughter married a Millar, and to make sense of all this.
Any pointers are desperately needed, and will be greatly appreciated.
