Hi Trish Yes, they are familiar. My great grandmother, Agnes Kirkland Anderson, b. 1839 in Muirkirk. Her father, David b. 1811 and mother Helen (Ellen) Moffat, b. 1817, both in Muirkirk. Other Andersons and Kirklands in Sorn, Moffats in Muirkirk back to 1720, then Douglas, New Monkland,Barony back to 1668.
No place names for Mary Connel, my gg grandmother (Cockburn) b. 1817, probably Stevenston along with many other Cockburns. They also came from Dundonald, Haddington and Chricton. I have no place names for Gibson (Janet1748-52) who married Leitch, except for Isobel Gibson b.c. 1669 in West Linton, married John Russell on 12 Jun 1689. I have Hamiltons in Douglas (Janet 1727, Daniel 1695) also James, 1664 in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire. My paternal grandfather, William Cockburn was born in 1868, in Rosebank, Lugar, Auchinlech Parish, Ayrshire. His family moved there from Kilwinning to be closer to the coal mines in Lugar.

Thanks for the message. Perhaps there is some good links.

Regards, Bill
