Surnames:
Cockburn, Anderson, Connel, Leitch, Gibson, Allison, Seaton, Scott, Moffat, Kirkland, McGie, Muir, Hamilton, Russell, etc.
Marion - Sorry to take so long to reply. I needed to verify if there were any McKies on my tree. First, I have some McGies, which may be a variation, but they are from Scotland, 1685 to 1784. Second, as you noted, my family name is Cockburn, also from Scotland. I'm only the second generation to use the shorter version. The date you noted are all after my Cockburns immigrated to Maryland and later moved to Illinois and California.
My maternal line, Stewart, stopped off in Northern Ireland for two hundred years before immigrating to Canada in 1820. I have that family tree back to 940 so I'll check to see if McKies appears anywhere.
