I am a decendant of this family (John Richmond & Marion Hodge).
I am decendant through their son William Richmond, B 1821, married Ann Connell in 1844 in Galston.
This couple had 7 children to my knowledge in Kilmarnock & Galston.
I have some information about this line if it interests anyone. The family spread out to Canada, USA & Australia with my grandfather John Dalmeny Richmond b.1904 coming to Australia as an infant.
I look forward to hearing from any connections
Regards,
Angela Richmond

Dear Kathy, thanks for the information on your line, I don't know if we are the same Richmonds as the Loudon area had many Richmond families. They go back many generations, so probably if you go back far enough you will find we are all from the same family.
I posted my first reply to you on the Ayrshire rootsweb message board and tonight had an e mail from George McCaig in Canada who has lots of information on the Richmonds. His e mail address is:
gmccaig@sympatico.ca
I'll be in touch, Agnes.

Richmond/Brown/Paton connection?

I have a Mary Brown b. 1805 of Newmilns who married Alexander Paton of Galston in 1830. Mary's father was Andrew Brown and her mother was Mary Morton. Mary's brother was a Doctor.

Mary and her husband were buried in the Newmilns Parish Churchyard in the Grave of the Richmonds. Her grand uncle was Major James Richmond of Tarbolton, at Newmilns.

The Paton descendants of Mary and Alexander carry the Richmond name as a middle or first name for several generations.
