I see we have some common names. My grandmother was Marion Law from Kilbirnie and her father John Law - his father William Law whose father John Law married Margaret Walker.

The Janet Fife I have was born 1749 and married John Law born 1742. They were married 1769. Both from Kilbirnie.

The Janet Fife I have b. 1773 was born to John Fife and Janet Law. John Fife was a wright at Bridge of Kilbirnie.

Yes, I have the same information. John Law b: 15 Feb 1810 Kilbirnie (Occupation: Grocer, Bridge, Kilbirnie) married 9 Jul 1832 at Kilbirnie to Margaret Walker b: 4 May 1810 at Baillieston Farm, Kilbirnie Parish (Occupation in 1871 - Innkeeper).
They had 10 Children:
William; Margaret; James; Jean; Ann; Janet; Mary; Agness; John and Robina.
John Law's parents were William Law and Jean Allan
Margaret Walker's parents were James Walker and Margaret Allan.

The Janet Fife (Fyfe) in my records, born: 1749, married John Law b: 1750, on 2 May 1769 at Kilbirnie.
Janet christened: 11 Dec 1749 at Kilbirnie. John was a farmer at Kamehill, Kilbirnie Parish.
They had 11 children:
John; Ann; Robert; William; Janet; John; John; Margaret; James; Jean and George. The second John b: 27 Nov 1783 d: 8 Jan 1839, married Margaret Logan b: 1 Dec 1785, on 16 Jan 1809 at Kilbirnie.
Jean b: 11 Sep 1791 Milton, Kilbirnie, d: 7 Oct 1850 Kilbirnie, married John Walker b: 6 Jul 1790 Langlands farm, Kilbirnie Parish, d: 11 Oct 1856 Kilbirnie, on 29 Nov 1813 Kilbirnie.
Janet's parents were Robert Fyfe and Elizabeth Robison
John Law's father was John Law b: 1720.

The William Law I have, son of John Law and Margaret Walker, was born 9 Sep 1832 at Brockeyhill, Ayrshire, Occupation: Engine Worker.
He married Mary Murdoch b: abt 1833, on 8 Dec 1854 at Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.
They had 9 children:
Catherine; Margaret Walker; Jean; John; Ann; Janet; Janet; William and Mary Murdoch.
I have no information beyond that.

I think I may have been misled with my John Laws (there must have been plenty going about). I do agree that John Law married Margaret Walker. Now I realise that I have had the wrong John Law. John Law born 1773 to John Law and Janet Fife do not seem to fit. So I am glad to see that the John Law you have as parents WILLIAM LAW and Jean Allan fit into my jigsaw better. Was the parents of WILLIAM LAW John Law and Janet Fife. Who were Jean Allan's parents?
