Anyone with information or who can point me to an article
about the above. Links to news articles would be appreciated.

Apparently the Ludgate Murder Case was worldwide news at the time. A Mrs. Ludgate, my grandmother, shot and killed
my grandfather as he was threatening to kill my mother, then
aged 3. Any information you can give me would be appreciated!

Hi Kevin,

As Sheena advised you could d/l the article from the Scotsman site or you could try emailing the local history unit at South Ayrshire and ask for a lookup in the Ayrshire Post. There may be a charge for this as well.

Their email on the Ayrshire GenWebPage at:

Thank you for your reply. I gather you found it. I wish I could.

I couldn`t even after repeated searches. How do you get the search engine to come up
with anything? I entered key words, the reference number,
the date and the location, and it said it had no results.

How do you find anything on that clunky search engine?

What am I doing wrong? Sorry feeling frustrated at the moment.

Kevin,

All I did was simply enter Ludgate in the keywords area.

I got about 30+ hits.

You may be supplying the engine too much info.

I would note that the results are always jumbled as far as time goes - you need to sift out the lot. The pretrial is on the first page of results, with the verdict being on the second (and last page) of results.

I rarely use the other search parameters.

There is an informative help file at the site.

Larry

Thanks Larry, I think that is exactly what I have been doing--entering too much information. I`ll try again.

Thank you for your help Larry!

The Scottish Archives actually don`t give me much more information that I already knew, I`m afraid. They are very brief.

I guess I will have to spend some money to obtain the newspaper articles.
