Hi all I realize this thread is a little old, does anyone know have any of these Banffshire Macphersons done DNA testing? How far back does your research go? Curious because I have an Alexander Macpheron of Charles County, MD earliest record there 1706. His son Rev. John Macpherson was educated in Scotland. There are about 15 letters in the MD archives to a Cuthbert Gordon of Banff where they call each other cousin and ask after aunt and uncle. Does this ring any bells? I am looking for a male of Alexander's line to test and I would guess he would match some other Banffshire Macpherson males may be a good way to research the lines.
