Isabella Graham of the Powfoot area of Dumfries. Her parents had a farm in the area. She married Captain William Thompson and had two children. Isabella Thompson born at Caerlaverock, Dumfries April 9, 1830 and a son (name unknown).
Isabella Thompson married Thomas Adamson. (I have most of this information).
Captain Thompson is closely associated with the removal of a treasure from Lima, Peru. This was done for safekeeping due to a threatening attack to the city. His ship was the Mary Dear / Deir/ Deare. As the legend goes, the treasure was hijacked and buried on Cocos Island.
William Thompson never returned to Scotland and his two children were apparently reared by their Graham grandparents at Powfoot? I don’t know if Isabella Thompson stayed there with her children or not.
Isabella Thompson’s son was partially blind due to a childhood accident. He was a well known musician in later life and emigrated to the United State of America. He married (in UK or USA?) and had two children: Florence Marryat Adamson and George Frederick Handel Adamson. Florence is reputed to have married a meat packing millionaire!
