I have just recently been possibly able to connect Agnes Maxwell m. William Cannon to the Maxwell's of Dumfriesshire - this is an unconneted line and then there are 2 difinte connections resuts are from the LDS BMD abstrats and available on line census records. would like confimation and input into this lineage -

2. Thomas Maxwell ??? ([-?-]) died after 1611. Thomas married Agnes Rig. Agnes was born 1590. They had the following children:


+ 3 M i. John Maxwell of Barncleugh was born 161/11619 and died 1688.


Third Generation


3. John Maxwell of Barncleugh (Thomas, [-?-]) was born 161/11619. He died 1688. John married Agnes Irving, daughter of John Irving of Dumfries and Janet Lawrie, on 9 Dec 1635. Agnes was christened 6 Oct 1623. She died 1688. They had the following children:

Fourth Generation


4. John Maxwell ??? (John, Thomas, [-?-]) was born 1638. He died 1689. John married Margaret Irving, daughter of John Irving, on 15 Jun 1665 in Dumfries Dumfriesshire Scotland. Margaret was born 1648. They had the following children:

6 F ii. Mary Maxwell was born about 1665. was born about 1665 Mary married Thomas Irving, son of Thomas I Irving and Elizabeth CRAIK, on Nov 1688.

5. James Maxwell (John, John, Thomas, [-?-]) was born 23 Feb 1673 in Annandale, Dumfries, Scotland. He died Apr 1748. James married Mary Welwood, daughter of James Welwood Dr. and Barbabra Armor. Mary was born Oct 1686 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. They had the following children:
