Am researching an ancestor George Murray, who stated on his war record he was born in oarish of Drysdale, Lockerbie, Dumfries in 1818 and on later census' Lockerbie or Lochmaben c.1820.
I can only find a birth in parish of Canonbie and in fact no Murray born in Drysdale between 1818 and 1829.
Maybe records are missing? or would he get his home parish wrong?
