The Family History Center where I volunteer has the 1855 Births films for all of Scotland. Here is what the 1855 document says for Janet STEWART's birth. The handwriting is really hard to read with thick lettering and very slanted writing.... Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma USA [caps are mine]

Entry #58, Cardross - Janet STEWART born Jan 20?, 1855 at 4:30am, Renton. Parents were Robert STEWART, Carter, 34 years old born Renton and Mary STEWART ms McINTYRE, 29 years old born Renton, this was her 5th child. They wed in Renton in 1848 and had 1 girl deceased, 3 girls living. Mary STEWART signed with her name as the mother, Registered in Cardross on 30 January 1855.

The word TWENTY is very hard to read as the date of birth and may be something else however it's a one-word date. It was asked how MANY children were living and how many were deceased not including the currently registered birth. Names were not asked, only numbers. 1855 Registrations are literally gold mines of information if you happen to have any in the family. Marriage Registrations asked extra questions and Death Registrations asked for all the deceased's children's names and current ages and whether that child is living or dead and the age at death was usually given for every deceased child. I realize we are somewhat sad when an ancestor died....but as long as they did die, hope it was in 1855.
