Hi Donald .. I have a subscription to another site (forces war records .. poor value as it mostly duplicates what can be found elsewhere) but it does list a Thomas Irwin, 5th Co 3rd Battn Royal Artillery, awarded the Indian Mutiny Medal for service in 1857-58. Could that have been yr Ggrandfather ? .. he would have been 22.
