My gr-gr-grandfather James Bottomley was enlisted in the Royal Artillery and stationed at Dumbarton Castle. While there he married Mary Hayman, an Irish girl. They had three children, one of whom was Thomas James Bottomley, my grandfather, born in 1872. who lived in Kilwinning most of his adult life and is buried there. Sadly, James Bottomley departed this life in 1880, leaving his widow and three small children. Questions: (1) where are James and Mary buried? (2) where was he born? (3) who were his parents?
