Since your message is over 2 years old you probably have some more info. My great-great grandmother is Marion HALDANE . She was listed as 'Many' HALDANE on her marriage record, & as 'Marion' HALDANE on all her kids birth records AND she has a son Alexander Blaikie EWAN. If I could solve 2 riddles that would be great! Along the way I found that the name 'Marion' could be Mary Ann, Mary, Ann, and in BLAIKIE,HALDANE, & KINGHORN families, Menne.
Here's my family traced back from Marion HALDANE to the BLAIKIE's: b=born, ca=about, m=married
Marion HALDANE, b (1821) in Whitekirk, East Lothian to
Andrew HALDANE b (1765) PERTH & Catherine KINGHORN b (1788) Kirkcaldy,FIFE , m ca 1808.
Catherine KINGHORN b to James KINGHORN & Margaret MAXWELL m 10 FEB 1788, Kirkcaldy,FIFE.
James KINGHORN b (1769) to David KINGHORN & 'Ann' Marion BLAIKIE, m ca 1760
Marion BLAIKIE, b (1741) Carrington,MLN to John BLAIKIE & Elizabeth Johnstoun, m 3 MAY 1734 Inveresk with Mussel-burgh, MLN.
John BLAIKIE & Margaret Johnstoun lived in Haddington,East LOthian where they had 3 kids. I couldn't find a marriage for these 2, and suspect that 'Margaret' & 'Elizabeth' are the same person. It wasn't uncommon for people of that time to use different names, or to marry, when in a new place.
John BLAIKIE b (1692) Edinburgh,MLN to John BLAIKIE & Margaret LAW, m 17 APR 1687 Edinburgh,MLN.
John BLAIKIE b (1652) to John BLAIKIE & Margaret MASON,
m ca 1647. On 1 son's birth record she's listed as Bessie Margaret Mason.
Menne KINGHORN, b (1763) m Robert Wright (1780) as Marion KINGHORN. I suspect that Menne probably died ca 1820, or before Marion HALDANE was born.
Hope this can be useful?
