DALZIEL COAL MINING

Classification: Query
Surnames: THOMAS JOHNSTON(E)
My great grand father THOMAS JOHNSTON(E), was a coal miner in Dalziel, Lanarkshire around 1899/1901 I would like to find information on coal mining in this area, but find that Dalziel no longer exists, and is now part of Motherwell. I would also like to know if any of the coal mining compounds still exist and whether or not there is a place 6 St. John Square, in what was once Dalziel.
regards
Norah
