Abraham Perry, my GGGGGgrandfather, lived in Bertie Co., NC as early as 1757. According to a written family history that I have, Abraham Perry was the son of Sir Arnold Perry of Glasgow, Scotland. Abraham Perry's mother was a Ware. Abraham Perry was given 2,000 pounds sterling by his mother and he left Scotland for America, due to a rift between himself and his father. Abraham Perry's point of entry is also recorded as being Charleston, SC.

I am not confident that Sir Arnold Perry was necessarily his father's name, but would appreciate any researchers in the Glasgow area looking in their references to see if such a man existed.
